How To Import .docx File (Word File) In WordPress With Plugin

Do you have team of writer or do you hire freelancers to write articles for you? Chances are high that they usually send you files in Microsoft word format and you have to do a lot of work in copying-pasting and retaining the formatting. Things goes really bad when there are images in the post and you need to save them one by one, and use WordPress image uploader to attach to the blog post. How good it would be if you can simply import the .docx file directly into WordPress as a blog post and you will save a lot of time. Today post is about one such amazing plugin which is now available for feee on official WordPress plugin directly and is called Document importer by Plugmatter lite.

Using Document Importer To Import .docx file as WordPress Post:

This plugin supports importing from your desktop, Google drive or even dropbox. The plugin is easy to use and let me show you how it works. First of all you need to install the plugin and here is the official page of the plugin. Once you have installed and activated the plugin, you need to get the license key which is free.
Go to settings > Document importer and register there to get your free Plugmatter license key. The free version of plugin supports import from desktop and to enable import from Dropbox or Google drive, you need to buy one time license for only $19 from here. This plugin uses advance XSLT parser to convert a word file into a HTML file, which retain all the formatting when imported.
Before I share how you can import file which is fairly easy, here is a  chart which shows what benefits you will get using Document importer over copying-pasting from Word file:

Once you have plugin installed and ready to use, simply go to add new post> and on the right side you will see an option to import .docx file.  Simply select the file from your system and it will be added as it is. What makes this plugin worthy is, it also imports images from the file and save it in your WordPress gallery. Personally, I know many bloggers who still prefers to write articles on Microsoft Word and this plugin is made for them. For bulk usage, you should consider getting a license as it adds functionality to import from Dropbox and Google Drive.
Make sure your document is well-formatted before importing or from now on you can ask your authors to format the article (Text-size, heading, images) properly, as this plugin imports everything and retain the formatting.

If it’s not a well-fromatted document, a good idea is to use “clear formatting” option in your WordPress editor toolbar which will take care of rest. It will take another one minute to make more changes but overall this will be a real time-saver for you.
Once I have the premium version of Document importer WordPress plugin, I will also add how you can use Dropbox or Google drive to import documents directly. Do keep in mind that this plugin works only with .docx file and not with any other format such as (.doc). Overall this is a time-saver plugin for those WordPress users who hires freelance writers to write articles and they receive article in .docx format. This will make your  publishing easier and it’s a real-time saver.
